Experience the soul-stirring music of Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert, and Barry White in a special health initiative and free concert at The Miller Outdoor Theater. Walker Entertainment Group presents “Keeping the Music Alive”, a musical tribute with an extensive “Keeping Ourselves Alive” wellness zone that features free health screenings. Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 several acclaimed artists will share the stage of the Miller Outdoor Theater in a free concert featuring the chart topping favorites of Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert, and Barry White while attendees receive free health screenings and medical information throughout the day. The “Keeping Ourselves Alive Health and Wellness Fair” starts at 3pm and the “Keeping the Music Alive” concert will begin at 7pm. With the assistance of wellness partner(s), Majic 102.1, The Monica Lamb Wellness Foundation, MedWise, Comcast, The American Heart Association, and more, Walker Entertainment Group is removing the excuses and providing an entertaining, informative and educational environment for individuals to receive health screenings and consultations. This is an excellent opportunity to get a personal check up in a comfortable environment before enjoying a landmark concert for free! Special guests for the musical tribute include: Darryl White, son of the late Barry White. Chris Walker, the sultry singer who has appeared on dozens of albums supporting such award winners as Al Jarreau, Bob James, Kirk Whalum, and Regina Belle. Glen Jones, the award winning, Grammy nominated songwriter and singer who’s celebrated hits include: “Here I Go Again”, “We’ve Only Just Begun (The Romance Is Not Over)”, “I’ve Been Searching”, and “Show Me”. Lakisha Jones, American Idol’s season six top finalists, church soloist and the role of Sofia during matinées in the Broadway musical The Color Purple. The musical tribute will also showcase Mary Griffin, Kyle Turner, Shawn McLemore, Sean Christopher, and Houston’s own Scott Gertner.
